凡珊珊 Recently, I visited the famous Guanyin in Foshan City, Guangdong Province. Built in 990 during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), it is a Buddhist statue located on Fenghuangling Mountain, in Foshan City. When I approached the foot of the mountain with other tourists, the tree branches rustled in the wind as if they were clapping their hands. The grass caressed our feet and even the clouds seemed to be moving happily along with us toward Guanyin. As we went uphill, the road became steep and the mountain cliffy. Suddenly, all of the people around me went quiet. When I looked up, the legendary Guanyin was there. I immediately slowed down and gently walked toward it. The statue of Guanyin is 61.9 meters high and 36 meters wide. It has winding brows and its eyes look like bright stars. It dresses in Buddhist-style clothes, with one hand holding a divine bottle and the other rising in the shape of a lotus flower, sitting on a lotus throne. Its expression is serene and tranquil. Many people prayed at the foot of the statue. I couldn’t help follow suit. I joined my hands, closed my eyes, and bowed my head to pray for my mother who was recovering from a hand injury. Then, I reached out, breathed deeply and savored the cool air, believing everything would turn out well. |
