Volunteering improves a city
    2012-09-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Volunteers help the community for no material reward. These are the people who make the world a more beautiful place.

The number of volunteers in Bao’an District is increasing. The assistance that they offer ranges from medical aid to directing traffic. Some also help take care of the old, sick and disabled. During the Shenzhen Universiade, thousands of volunteers helped make the event a success. We should carry on this legacy to make Shenzhen a more caring and generous place.

One of my classmates is a volunteer. She goes to her community to do voluntary work every weekend. She chats with the old people, plays with the children, and also helps maintain a high sanitary standard. Everyone in the community loves her. She has recently been awarded for her outstanding volunteer work. She said, “Making other people happy makes me happy.”

I call upon fellow Shenzheners to volunteer as much as possible.
