Wang Yuanyuan cheekywang@hotmail.com A series of charity English corners were set up at seven Wall Street English centers across the city in September, aimed at helping send donations to old people and children at the city’s social welfare center. The English corners involved activities such as English speaking, English learning, games and performances. Participants were encouraged to make donations. The English corners were held twice a week and involved students, staff and residents. “It was a positive experience, doing good deeds and learning English at the same time. I will encourage more of my friends to participate in such charity activities,” said a student called Li Dan. Besides money and gifts donated by the public, Wall Street English also brought many living necessities to the welfare centers such as bedding, diapers and blankets. “This year is the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Social Welfare Center and we are honored to be able to do something for the city’s charity affairs. In the future, we will participate in more charity and public activities, organizing more charity English corners and related activities to help the needy,” said Paul Blackstone, CEO of the Wall Street English China. |
