My name is Peng Minyi, I’m from Class 4 Junior 2 in Xin’an Middle School. I have to say that the older I grow, the more I appreciate what other people have done for me.

As we grow up, we learn more about the complex world around us. We must learn to be courageous, law abiding and hardworking, but we cannot do this without the help of other people. For example, when I forget to bring a pencil, a classmate will lend me one. When I make mistakes in my homework, my teachers will point them out and help me correct them. When I am unhappy, my parents and friends try to cheer me up. When I stumble, they will help me stand up.

I have met lots of good people in my life, so I want to say “thank you” to all those who have offered me a helping hand. Maybe they don’t even remember what they did for me, but I am grateful anyway. It is their help that has made me what I am today.

  I think every day is a gift. We should be grateful to our parents for giving us the gift of life.

 In North America, people celebrate Thanksgiving Day, when people show their appreciation for everything they have been given. We Chinese also believe in gratitude. If everybody is aware that they owe a lot to a lot of people, our world will be more harmonious and prosperous.
