Building strength through sports
    2012-12-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

东莞实验中学高一(10)班 罗士涵 指导老师 蒋坛军

I used to be a weak and sickly child. My parents despaired of my proneness to catching colds, dizziness and periods of lethargy. As well as being weak, I was also fat, which affected my self-esteem.

When I saw the love and admiration that people had for sportsmen like Lin Dan, I decided to follow the example of such inspiring figures. I started running every morning with a two-kilogram sandbag on each leg.

Initially, I would lose my breath quickly. The feeling of exhaustion and the blisters on my feet made me want to give up. But when I thought about how miserable life can be for those who are not fit and healthy, I persisted.

Gradually, I became stronger and would not get exhausted so easily. I spent less time in hospital and my grades improved.

My parents were very happy to see my progress.

This experience has taught me that doing sports is essential to being a rounded person and having a good life.
