A precious volunteering experience
    2013-01-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

     深圳市新安中学 高二(11)班 刘宁 指导老师:饶峰

Serving as a volunteer serving for the Jianqiu Competition which was part of the 10th Guangdong Middle School Students’ Sports Tournament has given me an unforgettable experience.

While providing various services, I made friends with people from different places. They helped me fulfill my task. My teammates also assisted me when I offered support. We worked together to make sure the game went smoothly.

There were a lot of sweet moments. When I rested on the table, my team member passed me an apple. When I made mistakes, my supervisor corrected them for me with patience and kindness. I understood that effective teamwork includes both physical and mental support and smiling is always better than getting angry.

As the game was drawing to a close, we had prepared a party for all athletes. Volunteers were encouraged to give a performance at the party.

We felt quite nervous during the last rehearsal since time for preparation was too short. As we were about to step on stage, a volunteer shouted: “Everyone follow the beat I make so that we can give a harmonious performance.” We all agreed and danced to the beat.

We had a wonderful time in front of the audience that night. The party was a success. When we held our hands and bowed to the players we served, we received a thunderous applause.

The experience made me feel that I am needed by others and realize that even a minor contribution can make a difference.
