first ‘American Idol’contestant to sing in China

    Singer Adam Lambert will be the first “American Idol” contestant to hold a solo concert in China.

    Lambert will hold his one and only show on the Chinese mainland in Shanghai on March 3, and then perform in Hong Kong on March 5.

    The flamboyantly fashionable singer has a huge following in China.

    Lambert was the first Western artist to perform on “The Voice of China” TV show and has close to 200,000 followers on his Sina Weibo account.

    The concerts are part of his tour for his latest album, “Trespassing” which topped the charts in North America.

    Lambert became prominent after appearing on the eighth season of “American Idol.” Although he was runner-up, Lambert launched a music career with the release of the studio album “For Your Entertainment” (2009).
