奥斯卡史上年龄最小的提名演员

Quvenzhane Wallis is the youngest person in history to be nominated for a best actress Oscar for her leading role in “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” She will make the most of the occasion.

The 9-year-old star was the center of attention at the 85th Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton on Monday.

Looking impeccable in a lilac party dress, and with one of her trademark puppy purses, the young star caused a stir as she joked around.

Auditioning for the lead role when she was only 5 years old, Quvenzhane was 6 when filming began in 2010 in Pointe-aux-Chenes and Isle de Jean Charles, not too far from her hometown of Houma, Louisiana.

In the movie, she plays a little girl with a vivid imagination struggling to survive in the southern Delta with her ailing father as a storm approaches.

Another first-time actor, Dwight Henry, plays the role of her father in the film.

“Beasts of the Southern Wild” won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Independent Film Festival and won the Camera d’Or for best first film at the Cannes Film Festival.

This film marks Benh Zeitlin’s directorial debut. Zeitlin also received an Oscar nomination for best director.

Wallis will be competing for the best actress trophy alongside superstars like Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain.
