深圳市新安中学初三(6)班 余昊 指导老师:安秀平 Have you ever felt unconfident because of the imperfections in your life? Have you ever felt angry about your own weaknesses or defects? I once felt frustrated for being fat. But I found my life was a bed of roses again after I read an article titled “In the Heart of Flowers.” It is about an aged man living in a suburb with a beautiful garden. The flowers in his garden were in full bloom and every passer-by could not help but stop for a glance. One day, when a young painter passed by the garden, he found the old man was blind. He went in and asked the man why he kept taking care of the flowers despite his blindness. The old man smiled and responded, “First, I was a gardener when I was young, and I really liked this job. Second, although I can’t see these flowers, I can touch them. And I can smell them. Many people would stop to look at the flowers and be delighted, like you. It also gives me a chance to speak to you and enjoy the happiness that the flowers bring to us.” His words touched me and made me think of Helen Keller and Stephen Hawking. Though both of them were disabled, they didn’t give up their faith in life. They enjoyed life just like common people and made full use of their talents. It was the same with the gardener. Although he was blind, he made efforts to beautify the environment and share his enjoyment with others. He enriched his life. I no longer felt sad for being fat or the other imperfections in my life. I do not have to figure out whether the girls who are around me are attracted to my appearance or character. I can spare more time on the things that I am good at. Everyone is born with imperfections, that’s why the world is so diverse. As long as we plant flowers inside our hearts, we can live with happiness and confidence. |
