Hangzhou City has adopted spring and autumn holidays since 2004. Spring vacation usually falls between late April and early May while autumn vacation lands between late October and early November, each lasting about a week.

    In America, primary and high school students have 193 days of vacations every year, including a one-week spring vacation, a two-month summer vacation and a two-week winter vacation. American public school students are required to do a certain amount of community service before high school graduation so the vacations are not wasted.

    Japanese primary and high school students enjoy three vacations a year with spring vacation lasting from late March to early April, summer vacation from early July to late August and winter vacation from late December to early January.
