Students and teachers of Shenzhen Nanshan Qianhai School pledge to live an eco-friendly lifestyle as part of an environmental protection campaign that launched on Monday. They have showed their support for the campaign with signatures on a green banner that promotes environmental protection on campus.

In a gathering on Monday morning, representatives of teachers and students made speeches on the topic of environmental protection.

Books promoting environmental protection were also circulated.

Class meetings featuring a variety of innovative ideas on environmental protection and related knowledge of it were also held to raise students’ awareness of the issue in their daily lives.

A meteorological station is also run by students to enhance their knowledge of climate change and environmental protection.

A director of the students’ affairs office surnamed Huang said: “We understand the urgency and significance of awareness of environmental protection among the next generation particularly after reading news reports about hazy weather in several Chinese cities.”

A number of activities will be held this month to implement environmental protection, such as Tree-planting Day which falls on March 12, World Water Day on March 22 and World Meteorological Day on March 23.
