The summer vacation that I had been looking forward to had finally arrived. I wanted to learn to cook from my grandmother and she agreed to teach me. My favorite dish is carrot beef stew. One day, I got up early to tell my grandmother that I would like to cook the dish. She told me I first need to go shopping. I went to the supermarket to buy some fresh carrots and beef. Luckily, the price of the carrots was not as high as the other vegetables. I wish I could say the same about the beef. My grandmother reminded me that it takes time to cook a good meal so I should start early. I first boiled some water. Then I put the chopped and seasoned beef into the water, and added a spoonful of oil. After that, I washed the carrots and cut them into large cubes. Five minutes later I added the carrot cubes in. My grandmother watched me cook and advised me to season the soup with some pepper. After putting all the ingredients into the pot, all I could do was adjust the heat and leave it alone. It was hard for me to wait so long. I got very hungry. Half an hour later, the dish was ready and I felt very excited about the soup. My grandmother helped me take it to the dining room table. I tried the soup. It smelt good but it turned out I had put too much salt in. Despite the salty taste, I was satisfied with my soup. I had an unforgettable experience. It made me appreciate the efforts that my grandmother had made for my family every day. I am grateful to her for what she has done. I should work hard to express my gratitude. |
