    After a nerve-wracking training program, my teammates and I, who represent Xin’an Middle School, started our volunteering work at the school’s Jianqiu competition venue on July 15. We were appointed to assist in a sports tournament.

    As volunteers, we were required to maintain a positive, responsible attitude as we received and guided the participants and coaches. We remained enthusiastic despite the heavy work load and challenging tasks.

    Even though the weather was very hot, we patiently led the athletes onto the courts in order. We also assisted the referees in finishing paper work and score keeping. We earned praise from the referees, athletes and coaches. It is impossible to organize a big competition like this without the help of volunteers.

    After the awards ceremony, all the athletes, coaches and volunteers took photos together and hugged each other. Throughout the 10-day tournament, we not only understood the importance of teamwork but also realized the power of smiling and generosity. The experience has become a precious memory.
