Vienna Shenzhen, one of the four earliest economic special zones in China, is my hometown. It’s young and modern, energetic and convenient. I take pride in its development and achievements. I feel fortunate to have grown up here and I am proud to claim that I am a Shenzhener and I love the city. As a southern metropolis, Shenzhen is fortunate to be endowed with a mild and pleasant climate, though it occasionally has humid weather. It won’t be too hot in summer or cold in winter. Spring and fall are the golden times of year. Shenzhen is known as a “migrant city.” People from all over the country gather here and have enriched the culture of food in Shenzhen with their hometown cuisine. No matter whether it is domestic or foreign, foodies can always find their favorite dishes. They can taste Sichuan, Hunan, Shaanxi, Huaiyang, and northern cuisine, as well as the Western, Japanese, Korean cuisine, not to mention authentic Guangdong cuisine. However, they cannot find Shenzhen local cuisine. Besides food, people with different backgrounds have created the migrant culture with Shenzhen characters. The city is open and tolerant. It welcomes people no matter what their preferences and history are. People smile at those who have tried their best and never look down upon those who have just missed out. It is Shenzhen, a city worth visiting. Being part of it makes me feel lucky and proud. |
