Overseas Chinese students publish magazine in U.S.
    2013-03-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    中国留学生杂志 《Voice我是》在北美创刊

Overseas Chinese students released the first issue of their new magazine at Purdue University in the United States on Friday. This marks a new milestone of accomplishments by Chinese students in the United States and will be a platform for them to express themselves.

The magazine Voice is bilingual and was founded by 8 students at the university. The editor in chief, Luodan Li, who studies industrial engineering, said he hoped the magazine would become a platform for the many Chinese students on campus to express their thoughts and ideas.

Joe Potts, dean of International Students and Scholars, said the magazine was a successful attempt by Chinese students. “Many young Chinese students who came to Purdue have just finished high school. The American campus is a new environment for them to make friends and reach out to the world. However, because of the language barrier, there is often a lack of communication. Voice is a great bridge to connect international students more closely to the campus life and the outside world,” said Potts at a press conference.

He said the magazine, the fruit of efforts by Chinese students to cross the cultural boundaries, was sending an encouraging signal to overseas students.

Reports in Voice cover a wide variety of topics and events beyond campus, and the editors are also looking forward to working with other elite schools in the United States.(Zhao Jie)
