    In everyone’s life, there are some people we love dearly: they can be family members, teachers or friends. And there is often one special person. The person I love most is my father. He has struggled to bring prosperity and happiness to my family without ever complaining.

    I love to listen to his life experiences. He has some special memories and is proud to recall his past. He often says to me, “You have no idea how I spent a whole night under a large concrete bridge in Shenzhen. When I was 16, I had nothing but one bag. I came to Shenzhen without a penny and I had to ask your aunt who lived in the city for help. To save money I just had two meals a day. If you had to live like I did in such conditions, I bet you would be very frustrated and in despair. You might want to give up immediately. But I didn’t, I survived!”

    I have no idea what I would do if I were like he was at 16. It requires courage and strength to leave one’s hometown at such a young age with only dreams for a better life. I know my life is much better than his when he was at my age. And I do realize that I can enjoy a carefree life due to my father’s hard work.

    I love the way he teaches me things. When I complain about life and tell him how boring my life is, or if I say how tired I am or how I am under so much pressure, he always helps me to find a way to relax, and encourages me by telling stories of people who have overcomed all kinds of difficulties.

    I love him just as he loves me. Although he always gets home late and is unable to spend much time with the family, I know he never forgets us. On the contrary, he works hard to bring us security. There is much love in his heart but, like many Chinese men, he doesn’t know how to express it. What he does is to support my dreams both financially and with his encouragement. He provides comfort to us unconditionally.

    No matter what will happen in the future, no matter what will happen in the world, my love for my father will always stay true.
