Nanshan Qianhai School launches

A series of events were held in Nanshan Qianhai School last month to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle among students and teachers, such as making good use of recycled paper and bottles, and also tree-planting and volunteering in residential communities.

And students at the school received a special letter last week from Yaosuo Middle School in Dushan County, Guizhou Province, containing a pledge to work jointly to promote environmental protection.

“You will not be alone on the journey of environmental protection, for we will move forward hand in hand with you. We are living in the same homeland and embrace the same dream of a beautiful China, so let us take care of our mother nature and the earth with united action!” the letter said.

On March 21, experts from the municipal environmental protection center talked to students about eco-friendly measures.

And, on World Water Day and World Meteorological Day, students left their campus to hand out pamphlets on topics including a low-carbon lifestyle, how to save water and guidance for safety precautions during dangerous weather conditions.

On March 22, a poetry reading contest, also on environmental protection, was organized for Junior 2 students.

The school has also set up a student reporters’ club to report on environmental protection, and compiled textbooks on the subject. Students are encouraged to put their knowledge on environmental protection into use during their daily routines.

The campaign received wide support from parents who joined with students and teachers in volunteer work.
