Five public schools in Futian District have established friendly relations with five Russian schools with the aim of developing academic cooperation, according to a Futian education bureau conference on international education. The five schools are Futian Foreign Language School, Futian Foreign Languages High School, Nanhua Middle School, Yiqiang Primary School and Lixuan Primary School. The move means that all public schools in Futian have now become sister schools with international institutes in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries. Students and teachers in the district will now be able to participate in a wider range of international exchange programs and competitions, including summer camps and overseas study tours. They are expected to widen their scope of knowledge through international contact and enrich their understanding of foreign cultures through interaction with foreign students. A spokesperson with the education bureau said the collaborative program could help improve local education by introducing the outstanding education resources and concepts from schools outside the mainland, and it could also help highly qualified people become teachers.
