关天朗挥杆美国大师赛 Chinese teenager Guan Tianlang had a memorable week at Augusta National Golf Club in the United States. When he teed off alongside the world’s golfing elite on April 11, the 14-year-old prodigy became the youngest player in the history of the U.S. Masters tournament. On Friday, he made history again by becoming the first Chinese, and the youngest golfer ever, to make the cut in a major tournament, making an instant mark on the game and winning fame virtually overnight. Guan is from Guangzhou, stands about 1.75 meters tall and weighs only 65 kilograms. In addition to being the youngest person to ever play in the Masters, he’s also the youngest player at any major in the past 148 years. A junior student at Guangzhou Zhixin High School, Guan spends two hours a day practicing golf with his father. Golf has been a part of Guan’s life since he began watching the game at age 4. He told his father when he was 8 that one day he would become a Grand Slam champion — a title given to a golfer who wins all the major tournaments in one year — and now he is a step closer to his dream. “I’m not going to push myself too hard,” he said before the Masters began. “I’m trying to just enjoy my game, play my best, and hopefully play some good scores.”(SD-Agencies) |
