I disagree very strongly, as it seems obvious to me that human beings, as social animals, cannot survive in this world without offering and receiving favors. I am a grateful and positive person. A friendly act that I witness — such as someone opening a door for an elderly person or just a smile from strangers — will make my day. And such feelings lead me to volunteer in my community. In short, I am an enthusiastic person and love to help those in need. My wish to help others comes from my mother, who is an example of how to stay optimistic and be grateful for the good in one’s life. My attitude also comes from one unforgettable experience. Three years ago, I was walking up a flight of stairs when I suddenly heard crying nearby. I saw a small boy lying in a corner. I moved close to him and listened to what he was saying. I tried to communicate with him. Although he did not respond at the very beginning, he finally opened his heart and talked about his trouble. He told me about his mishaps and I comforted him with some suggestions. I offered my help and he smiled in return. I realized that a simple act showing that you care can make a big difference in someone’s day. As a lucky person, I have not experienced any major misfortune in my life, and I owe my good luck to many people. Without the care and help of my classmates, my teacher, and even some strangers, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy what I have now. Thus, I think it is impossible to say we can live a quality life if we live in isolation. |
