Students at the city’s primary and junior middle schools can now apply to take part in an annual national natural science competition. The competition in Shenzhen will be jointly organized by Shenzhen Museum and Shenzhen Education Bureau.

It is the first year that Shenzhen students have the chance to qualify for the competition, which was launched by the Behring Group, a health and education foundation founded by an American philanthropist, Kenneth E. Behring. The theme for this year’s competition is “Great migration of animals, plants and human beings.”

The deadline for applications is May 10, and the preliminary contest will be held in Shenzhen next month, and the Shenzhen final will be held between June and July. The national final will take place in Shanghai in August.

The winners will join a scientific investigation tour to South Africa next year, said Shenzhen Museum yesterday.
