SZ students win robotics competitions
    2013-05-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Shenzhen junior and senior high school students have won several prizes in robotics competitions held this spring in Guangdong Province and overseas.

In two robot competitions for adolescents, held in Shenzhen and elsewhere in Guangdong Province in April and May, respectively, SheKou Yucai Education Group sent 90 students to participate and became the biggest winner, earning dozens of prizes.

An automatic-sweeping robot designed by Liu Zihao received universally good appraisals from judges for its innovative design and practical use.

Yucai Education Group has focused on science and technology education at its seven subsidiary schools since 2010, in cooperation with the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. All the group’s primary and middle schools have set up robot clubs and offered lessons to students with well-facilitated teaching resources.

In another robotics competition, the Open European Championship, held by First Lego League in Germany on May 10, a student team from Shenzhen Second Senior High School won the dSPACE Drive Award, a top prize in the competition. The team of four students — Zhao Mingzhan, Wu Ziqian, Duan Yuqing and Li Xinran — was the only representative of southern China. The students were awarded for their excellent teamwork, innovative thinking, daring spirit and good decision-making abilities.(Zhao Jie)
