Disney star Zendaya Coleman has built a solid tween audience since taking on the role of Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel’s hit show “Shake It Up,” but her recent run on season 16 of “Dancing With the Stars” has helped her expand beyond her core young audience. And though she fell short of winning, the young star said she added about 100,000 followers to her Twitter audience every week she competed on “Dancing With the Stars” — some of those followers being parents and grandparents of her fans — which has pushed her Twitter following to nearly 3 million. In an on-camera interview about her career, Zendaya and her father/manager, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, said her next mission is to reach out to all generations with her new album with Hollywood Records, which comes out this fall. She’ll build awareness around the album with a 13-city summer tour with a new music video, a troupe of new dancers and an all-kid band. The title of her coming single is called “Replay.” “I had this whole vision for how I wanted (the single) to be and how I wanted (the video) to look,” Zendaya said in the on-camera interview, adding that she tapped choreographer Ian Eastwood to choreograph her video, which will be released this summer. The Disney Channel will air a new “Shake It Up” episode on June 2.(SD-Agencies) |
