A creative and joyful class
    2013-06-05  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

On May 15, our English teacher, Sally, organized a special class for us. The whole class was divided into four parts. Each part was hosted by a study group that delivered a presentation on a minority group in China. Everyone in my class was attracted by the refreshing presentations with creative PowerPoint displays.

The first group did a presentation on the Manchu, who used to govern China for nearly 300 years. The group highlighted the leading characteristics of the minority. The second group discussed the Gaoshan minority in Taiwan Province. Besides giving a thorough description of the minority, the speaker also designed a funny game that required the cooperation of two students — one described a famous thing about the minority and the other guessed what it referred to.

The third group introduced the Korean minority, members of which live in northeastern China. The fourth group focused on another famous minority, the Mongolians. Like the Manchu, the Mongolians also once governed China, 700 years ago. They are famous for the Nadam Fair and for courage.

There is no doubt that it was a successful class, which gave us both knowledge and entertainment. After the class, we not only became more interested in English but also knew more about our nation’s minorities.
