Hailee Steinfeld ‘I helped cast Romeo and Juliet’
    2013-07-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    海莉•斯坦菲尔德饰演新版朱丽叶

Hailee Steinfeld has revealed that she helped cast her upcoming “Romeo and Juliet” movie adaptation.

Steinfeld has been selected as Juliet in Carlo Carlei’s version of William Shakespeare’s play, and Douglas Booth stars as her lover Romeo. The movie is to be released on July 26 in the United Kingdom and October 11 in the United States.

“I was a part of the casting process. This was only my second film after ‘True Grit’ and I remember then that Jeff Bridges said they were anxious about who they were going to cast as the girl — and I never really understood why, until I went through the test process with ‘Romeo and Juliet.’”

“You have so many talented people, but it’s all about finding the chemistry. As well as the chemistry between us, he (Booth) was passionate about the project and took it seriously.”

The 16-year-old actress also spoke about feeling “confident” about her life and young career so far.

She said: “For teenagers — and I mainly speak for myself on this one — you’re put into this adult world and it’s scary as anything can happen at any moment, but I’m just thankful my parents have raised me the way they have.

“I feel really confident just being me. I think a lot of the young actresses out there are the same — they’ve got really good backgrounds and families. We’re just doing what we love and we’re only doing it for that reason.”

The actress, who rocketed to an Oscar nomination as the 13-year-old star of 2010’s “True Grit,” her first film, has half a dozen movies awaiting release, including “Romeo and Juliet” and “Ender’s Game.” She is also the darling of the fashion industry. Besides being the spokeswoman of Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu line, Steinfeld was also named as MaxMara’s Face of the Future in February this year. (SD-Agencies)
