‘Candy Crush Saga’ bringing in $633,000 per day
    2013-07-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    《糖果粉碎传奇》成下载量最大游戏

It’s got colorful candies and more than 350 levels, and relieves boredom. But the Facebook game “Candy Crush Saga” also brings in around US$633,000 a day from its players, according to mobile gaming monetization* company Think Gaming.

It’s No. 3 in the Apple App Store and is the top game on Facebook, with 44 million monthly active users, according to AppData.

The game is very simple. Players view a grid full of brightly colored “candies” and must make them all disappear. Players crush the candies by aligning three or more of the same kind. When all of them disappear, players advance to the next level. Different levels have different challenges. Some levels have move limitations, and others have point goals.

Although free to download and free to play, players’ lives are limited. After losing five lives, players have to wait 30 minutes before playing again. And that’s the key: People who don’t want to wait 30 minutes to play again can buy more lives for a small fee.

If King, the makers of “Candy Crush Saga,” maintains the game’s thriving* popularity, it could pull in roughly US$231 million this year.

That figure goes along with an estimate made earlier this month by an analyst, who said the game could generate hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue per year for King.(SD-Agencies)
