Cap’s impacts
    2013-07-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

IN May, a Shenzhen woman was fined 500 yuan (US$81) by Hong Kong police for bringing two tins of baby formula out of Hong Kong about 23 hours after her previous trip, narrowly missing the required 24-hour interval.

No reports have since appeared on whether the woman, Wu, has been or will be prosecuted as the cap requires.

The case spurred widespread complaints about the border restriction.

In another development, some parallel traders have been found paying for formula brought into Shenzhen by inbound travelers at Shenzhen’s checkpoints, including Luohu Checkpoint.

Travelers can make about 40 yuan for each can of baby formula, according to local Chinese-language media reports.

Shenzhen Customs has said it is not against regulations for travelers to bring up to two standard cans of baby formula into Shenzhen.
