(From Page 1) This year, nearly 35 girls have been enrolled in advanced education opportunities throughout China thanks to increased support and partnerships. According to its website, Captivating International will focus over the next 12 months on providing poor families with the ability to increase their household incomes and keep educational dreams alive for their children. “We might not end poverty or hunger in the world, however, we are taking a small step to make a difference in a collaborative effort. We want to be a part of Shenzhen instead of only working and living in the city,” said Bonnie Horibata, Captivating International’s funding manager. More than 100 expats volunteered to help support the charity event. “I know when I look back on my time in China, I will be happy and proud that I contributed to this event and made a difference,” Julie Ponthier said. A 31-member dance troupe of girls from Qinghai performed traditional dances and sang and danced with students from QSI and SIS during the event. |
