Li Yuchun wins MTV EMA Worldwide Act
    2013-11-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

   李宇春获MTV欧洲音乐大奖全球最佳艺人奖

Chinese pop singer, songwriter and actress Li Yuchun won the award for Best Worldwide Act at the 2013 MTV European Music Awards (EMA) held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Sunday.

This year’s award ceremony attracted top performers and celebrities from all over the world, including Eminem, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus.

More than 100 nominees from across the world battled it out for this year’s Worldwide Act Award, the most heated competition of the EMA. As the only Chinese nominee, Li outdid superstar Justin Bieber and nine other famous singers worldwide with a total of more than 100 million global votes.

The 29-year-old Li was crowned champion of the 2005 edition of “Super Girl,” a nationwide singing competition. Her first album “Queen and Dreams” (2006) reached sales numbers of 1.37 million. Since her debut, she has released seven top-selling albums, 52 No.1 singles and three films. Time Magazine has named Li the “Asian Hero” and “Icon of Chinese Pop Culture.”

Dressed in a white blouse and shiny beaded black jacket, Li received her award wearing a confident smile on her face. In her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude to the event’s organizers and her fans and those who love Chinese music.(SD-Agencies)
