‘Transformer wall’ combines real objects with images

A TOTAL of 24 rotatable boxes, each with a 17-inch (43-centimeter) screen on one side, combine to form a super screen to present high-definition images in Hall 1 of the fair’s venue.

The super screen has been dubbed a “transformer wall” and different images on the small screens combine to present a variety of visual effects thanks to ultra short throw projectors developed by Shenzhen-based ACTO.

Surprisingly, the small boxes can be used to hold real objects. When rotating, a real object can be integrated with images on screens surrounding it. It takes less than one minute for each screen box to rotate.

“Each screen can still present high-definition images in a strong light,” said Xie Jing, president of ACTO.

Xie said the product is one of ACTO’s efforts to combine culture and technology, which could be used to exhibit products like handbags and mobile phones.

“The ‘transformer wall’ can be easily assembled and transported,” said Xie.

He added that the product has attracted some potential business partners.

ACTO also exhibited its family entertainment terminal, which projects an 80-inch image on the wall within a distance of 19.5 centimeters. The Android operating system is installed in the terminal, which also has a Wi-Fi connection.

Based in Nanshan District, ACTO specializes in research and development related to digital video technology products, along with manufacturing and sales.

The fair has become an important platform for small enterprises to display themselves and acquire development opportunities. ACTO was a small enterprise 15 years ago and the annual fair has contributed to its growth.
