Harry Styles, 19, was crowned this year’s “British Style Icon” at the British Fashion Awards last week. The 19-year-old One Direction singer scooped the British Style Award at this year’s British Fashion Awards, which was presented to him by three-time winner Alexa Chung — who, after monopolizing the public vote for three years in a row with her irreverent style, was made persona non grata from this year’s shortlist. Styles, a London Fashion Week regular with a front row seat at the Burberry and House of Holland shows, was up against his rumored love interest Cara Delevingne, slickly styled retired footballer David Beckham, and one of the most photographed women in the world: the Duchess of Cambridge. Styles was born in Evesham, Worcestershire, and raised in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. Styles’ parents divorced when he was 7 and his mother later remarried. After the failure of competing in “The X Factor” in 2010, Styles and the other four boys formed One Direction. One Direction finished in third place in “The X Factor.” Shortly afterwards, it was confirmed that One Direction had been signed by Cowell to the sum of a reported US$3,259,000 for a Syco Records record contract.(SD-Agencies) |
