深圳市新安中学高一 (8) 谭正午 指导老师:张小梅 汤颖 Tan Zhengwu, Class 8, Senior 1, Xin’an Middle School Instructed by Zhang Xiaomei, Tang Ying A couple of weeks ago, our school held a sports meet. I felt excited and nervous when I was informed that I would be a judge. I imagined that I would wear a pair of sunglasses with a whistle in my mouth, preparing to shoot the starting gun. What a glorious task! But later, I was disappointed with the reality of it. I was a finish-line judge and my job was only to find and record the track number of the man who reaches the finish line first. All I had do to was report to the chief timekeeper right after each race. Although I was a bit frustrated at first, later I realized that my job was very important because I was the person who decided who would be awarded gold medals in the races. I needed to be careful every time. If I made a mistake, it would be serious and unfair to other contestants. Observing the girls’ races and finding their rankings was easier than the boys’. The reason was that the boys ran very fast and they arrived at the finish line almost at the same time. During the sports meet, all of the athletes and spectators were very enthusiastic and excited. “Maybe this is youth,” I thought. The judge’s work was boring and tiring at times, but I felt happy that I could do something for our schoolmates and for our school. Moreover, I have learned how to be a good finish-line judge and had some valuable experience in this job. In addition, because of the work, many people smiled at me and I received some good comments from teachers. What a great experience! |
