Feng Xiaogang has defended his new movie “Personal Tailor” from film reviewers* by publishing seven microblogs on Sina Weibo.

    At a press conference held in Beijing on December 29, the Chinese film director said his film was composed of three stories. The first about humanity, the second about irony, and the third representing his awe of the world.

    Feng argued that the comedy was a satire* on many contemporary problems. “You find me a film that’s more ironic. Maybe the audience feels the film is not that funny and they are touched by Dandan’s acting. The moviegoers can criticize me as much as they like because they pay for tickets, but not the film reviewers. You do not pay for tickets but make money from reviewing. You do not have a high level. There are comedies that not only make you laugh. Some are ironic comedies.”

    “Persona Tailor” was released on December 19 and has generated 500 million yuan (US$825,000) in box office. But the film only got 5.4 out of 10 on movie.douban.com,
