Deng Chao and Cindy voice for ‘Despicable Me 2’
    2014-01-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“Despicable Me 2,” the animated comedy smash hit of 2013, will finally hit Chinese screens this Friday.

Audience can choose to watch the movie in Chinese and enjoy the version that is voiced by Deng Chao and Tian Yucheng, also known as Cindy.

Interestingly, Tian is the daughter of Tian Liang, the former Chinese Olympics diving champion.

Tian and her father caught public attention for participating in a TV program called “Where Are We Going? Dad.”

The film is a sequel to the 2010 animate film “Despicable Me.” It tells the story of Gru, a reformed super villain who is now on the side of the good guys.

Deng says he enjoyed voicing the character. “The opportunity does not come easily. I like the story of the film. I like Gru’s character. He’s got a warm side. Strictly speaking, he’s not a good man. He has a lot of flaws but this time he stands against the bad guys. He tries to impress the others and that makes him good. Also Gru falls in love in ‘Despicable Me 2.’ That’s a big change in the sequel*.”

This was the second-highest grossing film last year worldwide. The film earned over US$918 million, making it the most profitable film in the 100-year history of Universal Studios.(SD-Agencies)
