When people ask me about my opinion on my own life, I just say that my life is very ordinary. I came from a small town in Guangdong and was raised in a not so well-off family. Like most of the kids in China, I have enjoyed love from my parents and also learned how to bear their high expectations. I failed to enter a college that we longed for, but I felt that I was lucky to be admitted into the college where I now study. It was my first time to leave my hometown and live by myself in Shenzhen, a prosperous city full of opportunities. I felt a little scared and lonely at first, because I had never seen so many tall buildings until I came here last year. But since I have made some good friends on campus I have felt less isolated. After a full year, I think I made a great decision in coming here. Compared to my high school life, I now have less pressure on exams. Besides, I can choose courses I like and take part in interesting activities. Studying English is fun to do in my spare time, unlike years before when all I felt was intense competition. Learning English has grown into a pleasant pursuit and I hope to speak English fluently before I go job-hunting in the near future. |
