Chang Man As people often say, “Interest is the best teacher.” That of course means that if we are interested in something, it’s easier to learn and improve. In my opinion, being interested in something is not only best for learning but also a main source of happiness. As people are facing more and more pressure nowadays and have to survive among fierce competition, many feel frustrated in dealing with it and thus become less cheerful. As people only want to chase the highest scores in exams, or try their best to get a promotion from their job, it becomes easier to get frustrated and bored. As a result, they have lost out on more than they have gained. No matter how busy we become, we can’t forget our interests and hobbies. My favorite way to deal with pressure is to play basketball. I have loved the sport since the moment I laid my hands on a ball. When I was in primary school, I began to play basketball and then kept playing and improving my skills. Even in the last year of high school I did not give up on this interest. Although, like most students, I worked hard to prepare for the National College Entrance Examinations, I still played three-player games with my friends when I had spare time. The reasons why I love the sport are because I like the sound when the ball hits the ground and goes through the net, I love the sweat drenched on my jersey, I love to hear the cheers from my teammates when I make a good play and most of all I love the excitement and relaxation that I gain from the sport. It’s not easy to make the time for something you like, but once you do and let it be a part of your life you will understand that what your hobby has brought to you is priceless. |
