    Ellen talk show lands in China

    U.S. comedian Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show has become the first daily American show of its kind to be distributed in China, its U.S. and Chinese distributors said on January 21.

    Episodes of Emmy-winning “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” are now available on Chinese online video service Sohu Video 48 hours after its U.S. broadcast and with Chinese subtitles.

    Lohan to star in new film

    With a film crew capturing every moment, Lindsay Lohan made a high-profile debut at the Sundance Film Festival, announcing a new film and a “fresh start.”

    The 27-year-old, who is attempting a comeback after well-documented* battles with drugs and legal troubles, came to the independent cinema showcase on January 20 to say she will produce and star in a film called “Inconceivable,” set to start shooting in March.

    Poster for ‘Golden Era’ unveiled

    A poster for “The Golden Era,” an upcoming Chinese film directed by award-winning Hong Kong director Ann Hui, has been unveiled.

    With a screenplay helmed* by Li Qiang, “The Golden Era” is a biopic of the tragic life of a prominent Chinese female writer of the 1930s.

    Tang Wei plays the lead role as Xiao Hong. Feng Shaofeng plays Xiao’s first lover, Xiao Jun.

    Radcliffe to ‘build Brooklyn Bridge’

    Film star Daniel Radcliffe is to play civil engineer Washington Roebling, who was instrumental in building the Brooklyn Bridge, in his next film role.

    The movie, called “Brooklyn Bridge,” will be directed by Douglas McGrath, best known for the Jane Austen adaptation, “Emma,” starring Gwyneth Paltrow.

    The Brooklyn Bridge took 14 years to build, at a cost of US$15m and 20 lives.(SD-Agencies)
