    2014-03-04  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Officer lures

    attacker away

OFFICER Zhang Liyuan was on patrol around Kunming Railway Station when the knife attack occurred, Wuhan Moring Post reported.

Zhang handed out some wooden sticks to people nearby for defense while he rushed toward the attackers with a riot stick in his hand.

“Hey, come and cut me,” he yelled to four of the attackers, who were wielding long knives and slashing passengers. The yelling attracted the attackers. Zhang was wounded and lost one of his left fingers during the incident.

    Restaurant manager

    provides shelter

Ang Jie, manager of Dicos restaurant near the railway station told a China Daily reporter:“After the attack, many passengers swarmed into our restaurant. We opened the door to receive the passengers and passers-by until the store was fully crowded.”

Mobile phone shop owner fends off attackers

The owner of a mobile phone shop took in more than 10 passengers who escaped from the rail station.

The owner locked the shop from the inside and prepared to fight off attackers with the fire extinguishers. From behind the glass door, he saw one terrorist pointing at crowds with his knives, Beijing News reported.
