    David Brenner dies at 78

    Comedian David Brenner, a regular on Johnny Carson’s “The Tonight Show,” died after a battle with cancer, a family spokesman said on Saturday. He was 78.

    Brenner was a staple* on Carson’s late-night show, appearing more times than any other guest — 158, according to a bio on his official website. Brenner helped write, produce and direct 115 TV documentaries, earning him nearly 30 awards. He also was the author of five books.

    

    Stunt man on missing flight

    A Chinese stunt man whose credits include the acclaimed* martial arts epic “The Grandmaster” and other films was among the passengers on a missing Malaysia Airlines flight.

    Ju Kun also worked on “The Forbidden Kingdom,” and he was scheduled to work on the series pilot for “Marco Polo,” a joint Weinstein Co. and Netflix production, at a studio in Malaysia before he boarded the flight to return home to Beijing. The plane disappeared on March 8.

    

    Chris Pine pleads guilty to DUI

    U.S. film star Chris Pine pleaded guilty on Monday in a New Zealand court to a charge of drunken driving.

    The “Star Trek” actor, 33, was fined NZ$93 (US$79) and had his New Zealand driver’s license suspended* for six months during a hearing at the Ashburton District Court.

    

    Melissa George stars in ABC drama

    Australian actress Melissa George is heading to ABC. The “Hunted” alum has nabbed* the second female lead in ABC’s Richard LaGravenese soapy drama pilot.

    Set in New York City, the drama revolves around the love and rivalry* between two equally matched, powerful socialites* who play out* their obsessive attraction to and seduction of each other through their manipulation of others.(SD-Agencies)
