Zhou Dongyu returns to school days
    2014-03-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    周冬雨再掀校园风

Since the first teaser trailer of “My Old Classmate” was released, Zhou Dongyu, “Under the Hawthorn Tree” actress, is again receiving much attention.

Zhou, born in 1992, said the movie makes her think of her school days.

“The film makes me feel special, especially the scenes we filmed in classrooms,” Zhou said. “It was just like going back to the school I attended, very nostalgic.”

Actor Lin Gengxin, a popular young actor in teleplays, is also starring in the film. Zhou and Lin play two classmates who go to the same middle school and university. They become fond of each other as time passes. However, their love is short-lived. The two meet up again at a mutual friend’s wedding ceremony.

“The love in the film is so pure,” Zhou added. “The main characters treat love as the only thing they care about in their lives. They dare to be together no matter what the cost.”

“People long for such love, and it makes us recall the youth we all had,” Zhou said.

Zhou is originally from Hebei. She had no acting experience prior to taking the role in “Under the Hawthorn Tree.” After she starred in the film, her career exploded. She later starred in “The Road of Exploring,” “Fallen Tears,” “The Palace” and more.

Gao Xiaosong, who composed the popular Chinese song “My Old Deskmate” in 1994, is overseeing the production.

The film will hit Chinese screens on April 25.(Tan Yifan)
