Singer detained over drug use Li Daimo, a singer made famous by the popular singing talent show “The Voice of China,” was detained* in Beijing for drug use. Li was found taking drugs with five other suspects at his temporary home in Sanlitun, Chaoyang District. Police also detained two other suspects at a hotel in Fengtai District. Urine* samples of the eight suspects all tested positive for amphetamines*. They admitted to illegal drug use, according to Beijing police. Cheung signs record deal Award-wining Hong Kong film actress Maggie Cheung, who stepped out of spotlight since winning the best actress at Cannes in 2004, has returned to show business. This time, though, she will be a singer. Cheung, 50, has signed with Beijing-based Modern Sky Records, the music label announced on its website on March 20. Kwok joins movie ‘The Monk’ Hong Kong actor Aaron Kwok has joined director Chen Kaige’s 3-D martial arts action feature “The Monk.” Kwok will play a martial arts master. Chen said Kwok has epitomized* the role of a person standing for justice. His demeanor* and presence on set matched the role very well. Other cast members include mainland actor Wang Baoqiang, Fan Wei and actress Lin Chi-ling from Taiwan. Chris Martin joins ‘The Voice’ NBC’s“The Voice” has recruited Coldplay frontman Chris Martin as a universal advisor to all four coaches in a rebooted* round. For the first time, the remaining contestants will be paired off* to perform the same song separately in a sudden-death match, beginning on March 31. Martin is set to appear on the March 31, April 1 and April 7 episodes.
