Zhou Bichang, also known as BiBi Chou in English, swept Monday night’s 14th Top Chinese Music Awards at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center. Chou led the awards, wining two prizes as the best female singer and the most popular mainland female singer. It was her second time winning the top prize. With the theme “because of music we are bonded together,” the ceremony attracted stars from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. As the runner-up of 2005’s Super Girl competition that aired on Hunan Satellite TV, the singer and songwriter has seen her fame soar, especially in the past years as she has tried to edge into the fashion industry and has joined various TV programs such as “I Am a Singer.” She often claims the top spot on lists on Sina Weibo with her photos and news. Her famed songs and albums include “Me Left Alone,” “Un,” “Reversed Time,” “Different Dreams,” “Who Touched My Violin String” and “Unlock.” The Top Chinese Music Awards was established in 2011 and has become a main music industry event in China. It is also known as the Chinese Grammy Awards. (Tan Yifan) |
