Sumptuous French feast offered at Marco Polo Shenzhen
    2014-05-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LOCAL gourmets can now enjoy a bite of fancy, delicate French food at Futian CBD’s Marco Polo Shenzhen Hotel.

Guest chef Philippe Chergue has been invited to present a wide selection of dishes. Fresh lamb, salmon, mussel, scampi, scallop, cod, snail, razor clam and much more will all be on offer.

Authentic seasonings sourced directly from France will add special flavors to all the dishes. Diners will find Swiss chard, parsnips, parmesan cheese, Hollandaise sauce, port sauce, raspberry coulis and more on their plates. The chefs will perform live cooking shows during buffet time at Café Marco between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on May 23 and from May 26 to 29.

Besides the French courses, guests can also attend the chef demo and learn to cook French food themselves, organized by the hotel in the London, Paris and Rome Rooms.

During the feast, the hotel also has a fancy wine dinner available with French wine that is AOC recognized.

Born in the Midi-Pyrénées region of France, Clergue started his professional career at 33 in a 2-star Michelin restaurant. In 1990, he opened his own restaurant in the Beaune region of France, which he ran for 15 years. Clergue joined the elite teaching staff of Le Cordon Bleu Paris in May 2006. In 2011, he was a finalist in the competition “Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France” — as the best craftsperson of France (MOF) in cuisine-gastronomy and was awarded his first Michelin Star in the same year.

The set lunch will be 238 yuan (US$38.1) per person, and the wine dinner will cost 428 yuan per person. The buffet will be 328 yuan per person.
