In the eyes of other people, my father is a just an ordinary person. But to me, my father is the best man. He is like a tree; while standing under him, I feel safe and protected. In my eyes, my father’s favorite hobby used to be getting up late. He loved to sleep and lay in bed for a long time. He often slept until 10 o’clock, but when I started attending primary school, all that changed. My primary school was a bit far from my home. It took me about 20 minutes to walk there. Because I had to arrive at school before 7:30 a.m., my father started to get up early and took me to school every day. No matter how bad the weather was, he took me every morning for six years without complaint. I even remember a time when my father was seriously ill. It was raining heavily that day. Although he was quite sick, he got up and took me to school. He didn’t want me to walk to school in the heavy downpour. My father’s other habit was smoking cigarettes. He smoked since he was a teenager. He smoked many cigarettes a day. Family members always told him to quit, but he just couldn’t go without smoking. Five years ago, I told him seriously that he needed to give up smoking, because smoking was damaging his body. He became silent, and then he promised me that he would never smoke again. You can imagine how difficult it is for a heavy smoker to quit smoking. But my father did it. I am so proud of him for his strong will. This is my father, someone who will do anything for me. He inspires me to be a responsible, kind-hearted, and brave man every day. |
