Nickelodeon has canceled “Sam & Cat,” with last Saturday’s episode serving as its series finale. The show lasted one season. “Sam & Cat,” a spinoff* starring “iCarly’s” Jennette McCurdy and “Victorious’” Ariana Grande, followed two best friends who had an after-school babysitting business. Created by Dan Schneider, the man behind “All That” and “Drake & Josh,” the show seemed like a sure thing. But after a successful series premiere, a 40-episode order, a production hiatus in April, rumors of co-star feuds*, and more, Nickelodeon has pulled the plug. Grande addressed the cancelation on social media, saying: “I want to thank Nickelodeon for making a childhood dream of mine come true, for being a family to me, for being so accommodating and supportive of my multitasking with my music career, and for of course introducing me to many of my fans however many years ago. I want to thank Dan Schneider for allowing me to play such a special, beautiful character who I hid behind for so long.” (SD-Agencies) |
