    Neil Patrick Harris to host Oscars

    Neil Patrick Harris will host next year’s Oscars.

    Organizers announced on October 15 that the actor will emcee* the 87th Academy Awards on February 22, 2015.

    Telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement, “We have known him his entire adult life, and we have watched him explode as a great performer in feature films, television and stage. To work with him on the Oscars is the perfect storm, all of his resources and talent coming together on a global stage.”

    

    Bale in talks to play Jobs

    Less than two weeks after Leonardo DiCaprio broke off talks with Sony to play Steve Jobs, the studio has set its sights back on Christian Bale.

    Sources say Sony is beginning negotiations with “The Fighter” actor, who was originally eyed to play the late Apple Computer co-founder back when David Fincher was in talks to direct.

    

    ‘American Idol’ alumni Borgella dies

    Singer and model Joanne Borgella, who competed on “American Idol” in 2008, died on Saturday at age 32 after a battle with cancer, her family said on her Facebook page.

    The Long Island, New York-born Borgella made it to the top 24 on “American Idol” in 2008, three years after she appeared on reality series “Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance.”

    

    Chinese film wins at WFF

    The Chinese movie “Coffin in the Mountain” was honored with the Grand Prix at the 30th edition of the Warsaw Film Festival on Saturday.

    The director, Xin Yukun, winner of the most important section of the international competition, received the award from the Warsaw mayor.

    The film tells the story of three characters who are connected by an accidental killing. The film won the prize “for a challenging narration and a very subtle sense of black humor,” according to the jury.(SD-Agencies)
