BIBI ZHOU recognized at 2014 MTV EMA
    2014-11-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Chinese singer Bibi Zhou beat both 5SOS and Fifth Harmony on Sunday in the Worldwide Act category at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards at the Hydro arena in Glasgow.

The award is for the best artist across the world. For the past four years, Asian artists, including South Korean team BIGBANG, Han Geng and Li Yuchun, have claimed the title.

Zhou thanked her fans and the surprises her music career has brought her in her speech and said she hopes to keep the momentum up. She clearly has a sense of humor, considering that when she accepted her Best Worldwide Act EMA, she told Nicki Minaj, “I love your butt.”

Other stars who won multiple awards included U.S. hit maker Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer and Katy Perry.

After releasing music online in mid-2000, Zhou auditioned for China’s “Super Girl” competition” — similar to “American Idol” — in 2005 and ended up winning second place.

Since then, she’s released seven full-length albums and an EP. She has some of the best-selling albums in China and has appeared in a handful of films.
