Fire torches and screaming fans greeted the stars of “The Hunger Games” in London’s Leicester Square on Monday at the world premiere of the new installment* of the hit series, “Mockingjay, Part 1.” Actress Jennifer Lawrence and actors Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson return to star in the first of a two-part finale, as the third in Suzanne Collins’ best-selling book trilogy* is split into two movies. Lawrence is back as Katniss Everdeen, who together with her allies fight a propaganda war against the Capitol from the underground bunkers of District 13. “Mockingjay, Part 2” will follow next year — but filming has now wrapped on both installments. The last day on set was emotional, according to Lawrence, “Oh my god. There was so much sobbing. But then, Josh and Liam and I hang out and then we’re like, ‘Oh yeah,’ it’s not that bad, now we can hang out all the time without people knocking on our trailer telling us only five minutes left.” Hemsworth agreed, saying, “It was kind of a shock when it happened. I think for a while, we’d known it was going to happen at some point and then it was finally there and yeah, it was an emotional ending, for sure. It’s kind of an end of a chapter.” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” will hit U.K. theaters on November 20, and then comes to China one day later.(SD-Agencies) |
