    Zhang Jinlai applies for Guinness Records

    Chinese actor Zhang Jinlai, better known for his portrayal of the Monkey King in the 1986 television series “Journey to the West,” is heading a campaign to get the show into the Guinness World Record for the most broadcast and highest rated television series.

    The 55-year-old actor said the series has been aired in China more than 3,000 times since it was first broadcast.

    

    Hemsworth: ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

    People magazine has named Chris Hemsworth the “Sexiest Man Alive” of 2014.

    Hemsworth, who also starred as Formula One racer James Hunt in the Ron Howard-directed “Rush” and as George Kirk in the “Star Trek” reboots, was unveiled as the winner on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

    

    Chen Jianbin wins big at GHA

    Chinese actor Chen Jianbin became the biggest winner at the 51st Golden Horse Awards on Saturday, winning best lead actor and best supporting actor.

    Chen won the best lead actor award for his performance in “A Fool.” It also won him the best new director award. He won the best supporting actor award for his role in the Taiwanese military drama “Paradise in Service.” Chen was also nominated for best adapted screenplay for “A Fool.”

    

    One Direction tops AMA

    Boy bands bested* pop’s leading women in the top award categories at the American Music Awards on Sunday.

    British boy band One Direction won the top award of the night for artist of the year, and led the winners with three accolades* in the fan-voted awards.
