ENJOY‘DOUBLE 12’SHOPPING FRENZY

    WHILE many people are still calculating the amount of money they spent on the “Double 11” online shopping festival, which fell on Nov. 11, online retailers are already fully prepared for a new round of promotions — the “Double 12” promotions falling on Dec. 12.

    Unlike the “Double 11” promotions, online retailers will have different focuses and launch different promotion plans to attract shoppers. For example, Taobao.com and Tmall.com will continue to offer promotions related to everyday use while JD.com will offer more discounts to mobile shoppers.

    Here are some tips on how to shop on “Double 12.”

    Taobao.com and Tmall.com

    During this year’s “Double 12” promotions, Taobao.com and Tmall.com will mainly focus on promoting products related to shoppers’ daily lives. Nearly 100 brands and about 20,000 online stores will be sponsoring promotions.

    On Dec. 12, if you pay with Alipay’s eWallet on your smartphone, you can enjoy a 50-percent discount at venues such as restaurants, dessert shops, bakeries, supermarkets and convenience stores.

    Meanwhile, Taobao.com will also launch a promotion for specialty products, introducing a brand-new experience for online shoppers. Special services include laundry, private lawyers, domestic services, charity auctions and auto inspections. New services, such as overseas estates and second-hand cars, will also be launched Dec. 12.

    JD.com

    JD.com will continue offering discounts on its regular products this year, and more promotions will be offered for shoppers who shop and pay via mobile apps.

    During this year’s “Double 11” promotion, JD.com and WeChat launched a “JD Lucky Money” promotion to attract social media users. WeChat users or mobile QQ users can log on to JD.com to “grab” the “lucky money packages” and share the “packages” with friends via WeChat and QQ. Friends can then “refill” the packages and help the users gain more “money,” and friends can also earn chances to win “lucky money packages” worth 8 to 1,212 yuan.

    Meanwhile, Paipai.com will officially work with WeChat and give out free credits and discounts for WeChat users to shop at its mobile stores.

    Ctrip.com

    On Dec. 12, Ctrip.com will offer 10 million one-yuan products to shoppers and travel lovers, including a six-day trip to Kandooma Island in the Maldives and other travel services such as Wi-Fi rental, hotel rooms and tickets. All the one-yuan products will be available at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. However, shoppers are only able to purchase these products via its mobile app.

    Alitrip.com

    Alitrip.com will focus on travel promotions during next year’s Spring Festival holiday. It plans to give out 120,000 cheap flight tickets and “Spring Festival Travel Lucky Money” worth 30 million yuan in total.

    Shoppers can log on to the website to grab one-yuan flight tickets every hour from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

    Other low-price tickets will also be offered.

    Ly.com

    This year, Ly.com will also launch a series of promotions on a broad selection of products such as hotels, flight tickets, spa treatments, ski rentals and other travel services.

    Shoppers can pay a 200-yuan deposit to reserve products from Dec. 5 to 12, and pay the rest of the amount on Dec. 12.

    From Dec. 5 to 12, every shopper will have a chance to participate in a lucky draw every day to win free hotel suites and flight tickets.(Wang Yuanyuan)
